Eyes of the Corrupted
Note : The selection of targets works by clicking and dragging to draw a selection rectangle. Don't hurt yourself by spamming left click like some of my friends >.<
Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes
Tell us about your game!
The player is incarnating the Corruption, a strange form of life that only lives to fulfill its hunger. Eat, create minions to serve your purposes, grow and survive.
This is sort of a real time strategy game, except you don't control the minions individually but instead give them global orders like "Kill this chicken" and your minions will try their best to do it.
Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes
Extra Notes
This is my first game jam, so I'm quite excited ! I had experience with game development before, but seeing what I can do in 2 weeks (and around 30 hours of development time) surprised myself ! Not my proudest code, but definitely one of my projects I'm most proud of.

I jumped right into the game and completely missed the BIG BOLD text right underneath...completely my fault. I did exactly what your friends did haha.
Wow! I really enjoyed spreading the corruption though reminds me of the Zerg creep spread in Starcraft. Probably would have been harder to implement but I think a tutorial level would have helped the instructions sink into my brain more. I tried to remember all the directions being given but it didn't quite stick once the first level started. The additional buttons over the minion units though were super helpful.
The music sets the atmosphere really well. The art is absolutely fantastic, loved all the sprites.
The game felt like a cross between a puzzle and RTS game. It felt like I would run out of resources and that I had "failed the puzzle". The moments when a chicken would just waddle onto the edge of my creep and save me though were so great.
The game loop was fun! I almost feel like I would have enjoyed seeing the creep continuing to grow and "discovering" the other life instead of resetting everything and having them introduced per level as a different puzzle mechanic. I realize that's mostly personal preference though :P
Regardless, really liked the game and felt super polished! Would have never guessed this was your first game jam.
Thanks a lot for your comment ! The tutorial level was planned, but I lacked time and chose to polish the rest of the levels
Same goes for the selection, I realized too late to fix it, so I just chose the easy solution and put a big warning text
I'll take your ideas into account if I ever work on it again !
